Four Clues You are Filled with Fear

Are you losing sleep, not eating right, find yourself assuming nothing will ever work out for you? That’s fear – and fear kills faith, destroys self-esteem, and darkens even the brightest day. Here are four clues fear holds you back:

Clue number 1: You are reluctant to try new things. Someone asks you to join them to visit a new restaurant. You hesitate and often turn them down. It’s a clue you are living a life dominated by fear.

Clue number 2: You procrastinate things you can and should do. Someone said, “Procrastination makes easy things hard and hard things harder.” What important task do ignore because you’re not sure what to do, how to do it, or what the outcome will be if you get involved?

Clue number 3: You use too much negative self-talk. If you catch yourself saying things like, “I could never do that,” or “I’m not smart enough to learn that,” or “I tried that once and failed,” that is a clue you are living a life dominated by fear.

Clue number 4: You are a perfectionist. You refuse to do anything unless you are certain you can do it perfectly and look good in the process.

Have I described you? If so – it is time for you to stop living in fear and start living in faith. It is time for you to proceed forward and calm your fears.

    1. Yes, Peggy, overcoming fear is much more difficult than writing about it or reading about it. Two words in the Bible that are frequently used: FEAR NOT. Hear them. Apply them to your life. Use them when facing down the fears you have.
